What is a keyboard?

A computer keyboard is the parts of the computer. Computer keyboard is an input device that enables the user to input text into a computer or any other electronic machinery.

A computer keyword is like as a typewriter, in which uses an arrangement of buttons or keys, which act as an electronic switches.

A computer keyboard is used to as an input device which makes the communication between end user to computer or any electronic machine. Keys of keyboard include punctuation, alphanumeric and the special types of keys such as Windows keys and various multimedia keys that have specific functions.

Ergonomic keyboard is designed for user which makes more comfortable for typing. This keyboard refers to any keyboards designed to reduce strain on the body from typing.

Laptop Keyboard

This keyboard basically designed for only laptop keyboard, in which keys are reduced and space of keys is less as compare to other keyboard.

Virtual Keyboard

The keyboard which is used in Smart phones are called Virtual keyboard. It can be set automatically as needed. We can also use virtual keyboard in Windows systems that appears on the screen. There is no physical object to carry for the virtual keyboard.

Bluetooth Keyboard

Bluetooth keyboards provide superb flexibility with a large range of usage and versatility. These keyboards do not tie a USB port to your computer, which means that you can use it to connect to other devices.

QWERTY Keyboard

In QWERTY keyboard, keys are arrangement based on strings. This keyboard is mainly used in USA and Germany, This QWERTY keyboard is the most common keyboard layout. QWERTY is the letter at the top left corner of the keyboard starts.

Gaming Keyboard

Gaming Keyboard is the designed for user who spend long time on computer for playing games. This keyboard is more expensive than other keyboard because it has graphics keys and backlights to use even in the dark. This is only keyboard which is comfortable for playing games on computer.  

Backlit Keyboard

Backlit keyboard have a light where users can easily types and any work do with this keyboard even in the dark.

Flexible Keyboard

Flexible keyboard is made by silicon materials, which is easy to roll and take them anywhere. This keyboard mainly designed for transport and durability. This keyboard easy to clean and resistant of water and dust particle.

Membrane Keyboard

Membrane keyboard is the different types from the other computer. It has lightweight and it is thinner than a mechanical keyboard, this is made with single flexible pad, which does not support on playing game and faster typing. 

Magic Keyboard

Magic keyboard is made by Apple Company. This keyboard is only support on computer or laptop, which is only made by Apple Company.  This keyboard works on just like Bluetooth technology and support by rechargeable battery.

Thumb- sized Keyboard

This keyboard is just like Thumb with few keys. This keyboard is used for only playing games on computer.

USB Keyboard

USB stands for Universal Serial Bus. This keyboard connects with your computer or laptop through a wire, which has a USB port. This type of keyboard does not require any Bluetooth Technology or Wi-Fi. It is easy to connect any time with computer or laptop.

Mechanical Keyboard

Mechanical keyboard uses the individual springs and switches to deploy each key. This keyboard is faster for typing and it is cheaper than other keyboards.

How many keys in keyboard?

There are basically 101 keys in Standard keyboard. Number of keys in keyboard decides by company.  Company decided how many keys in keyboard which is based on model of computer or laptop.

There are different types of keys on keyboard, which is given below.

Alphabet Keys

This key represents alphabet letter from A to Z. these keys are not rearrangement in sequence. These keys are help in typing for alphabet letter.

Control Keys

These keys control the Ctrl, Alt, Windows keys, and ESC. This keys used by alone or combine with other keys.

Function Keys

These keys show the function of keys from F1 to F12. The functionality of these keys differs from program by program. Keys show in order like F1, F2, F3, F4, F5, F6, F7, F8, F9, F10, F11, and F12.

Numeric Keys

The numeric keys used for typing only numbers. This keys arrangement by a group like calculator.

Navigation Keys

These navigation keys are arrow keys, Home key, End key, Page up key, Page down key, Delete key, and Insert key. These keys are used in different types of program.
